[this was the first comment I made, when creating my DeviantArt Profile Page:]
I am still uneasy with the "Terms" of deviantART, but I "agreed" to it, so I' ll put up some crappy stuff and see what happens (my regular stuff is at flickr.com/photos/buckybit - UPDATE: have no access to old flickr account anymore).
picasaweb.google.com/BuckyBit/ is the 'new' storage of the old stuff.
It is a variety of original ideas, old-masters-training-warm-ups; sketches and drawings. I also use photos to re-imagine all the details and the bigger 'scheme' that is all lost in todays commercial photography. As David Hockney put it: "Photography is poor". It is just a snapshot. 2-dimensional in all ways, while a sketch or drawing, from it-s origin, is "thinking with a pencil". Read the books on 'drawing' from the early renaissance, esp. in Italy (Pittura, Alberti, Cennini).
Most of my stuff is done "quick and dirty" - I have strong opinions about art, art-theory and art-history, since I studied philosophy in extense. So challenge me anytime on subjects. I like discussions. I dislike narcisstic manirisms, disguised as 'opinions'. If you like to hear yourself talking, please, find someone else...
I have no ambition for a 'professional' career, quite the opposite: I despise anybody who wants to make a living out of his talent in these days. You only end up in advertisement or art-markets. 'Art' isn-t about that at all. And what I do isn-t art anyways. It is - as I said - thinking with a pencil. You just learn to 'see' far more accurate and intense.
